As many you know by now, we’re not the biggest fans of 3D.  The glasses get on our nerves, the hype is unrelenting, and the low brightness in most 3D images leaves us wanting for a 2D world.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate the technology behind the latest 3D craze.  One of our readers sent us an amazing video, which appeared recently on Peter Jackson’s blog for the making of The Hobbit.  The video gives a fascinating view of how Jackson is breaking the boundaries of 3D with his highly anticipated new feature, which is due out later this year.

Unless you live under a rock, you probably know that Jackson bought dozens of RED Epic cameras for this flick.  That’s right, dozens.  But do you know what he’s actually doing with all of these cameras? Well now the mystery is revealed…watch this video to find out many of his secrets.

And let us know, are you shooting anything in 3D?  And to pull a Dr.  Phil, how’s it working out for you?  Let us know in the comments section below.
